The National Communications Authority (NCA) announced on Friday that Nigerian telecommunications company, Glo Mobile (Gh) Limited has been awarded Ghana's sixth mobile licence. A statement issued by NCA in Accra said the licence is for 50.1 million dollars.

Internet service providers operating in the country have accused the National Communications Authority (NCA) of instituting a regulatory regime that does not support fair and transparent management of the country's frequency spectrum.

MTN Ghana Foundation has begun the 2008 edition of the 21 Days of Y’ello Care Programme. The programme, which was instituted last year by MTN Group’s CEO is carried out across all 21 operating units of MTN and focuses on community-development activities.

An estimated 8.7 million Ghanaians used mobile phones as at the first quarter of this year but the number may go beyond 9 million by the end of the year, Kwasi Adu-Gyan, a director at the Ministry of Communications has said.
